Durban – At least 13 children were hurt Wednesday afternoon when their scholar transport crashed at the corner of Lighthouse Road and Moffat Road in the Bluff, South of Durban.

Spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said, “just after 2 pm this afternoon” ALS Paramedics responded to calls for medical assistance for passengers of a minibus taxi that had crashed.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos as a scholar transport vehicle had lost control and collided into a wall and a tree,” Jamieson said.

“Multiple children aged between seven and 12 were found to have sustained various injuries.

“Immediately more Ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched to assist.”

Jamieson said 13 children were treated on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.

South African Police Service officers were on the scene.
