Mbombela (Nelspruit) – Four siblings aged between 36 and 45 will today appear in the Balfour Magistrate’s Court, in Mpumalanga, for the murder of their 71-year-old father.

Police arrested three sisters and their brother following the gruesome murder of their father in Balfour on Saturday, (17 August 2024).

“According to information, on that fateful Saturday, some members of the community found the victim at about 11:00 on a couch, without any sign of life,” said police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli.

“The Police as well as the medical personnel were summoned to the scene.

“The victim had multiple visible gunshot wounds. Some empty cartridges were also found at the scene.
“It was during this time when the victim was unfortunately certified dead by the paramedics.”

A murder case was opened and the team of experts in the investigation field immediately began the probe.

“Preliminary investigation thus far revealed that the victim previously applied for, and was granted a Protection Order against his children,” said Colonel Mdhluli.

“The investigation by the Police yielded positive results as it led to the arrest of the four siblings in Heidelberg (in the Gauteng Province) on the same day of the incident.”

The suspects are expected to appear in court today to face a charge of murder.
