BLOODY SHOOTOUT: Paramedics attend to the scene where police shot dead six suspects at South Beach early Tuesday morning
SHARE

Durban – A fierce shootout between police and suspected criminals along South Beach Avenue in the Point area in the early hours of Tuesday left six suspects dead.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said when paramedics arrived on the scene they found the road closed by police.

He said paramedics were informed that a gunfight erupted after police attempted to arrest the suspected criminals.

“Fortunately, no police officials were injured in the process, however, six alleged criminals had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were declared deceased on the scene by EMRS Paramedics,” Jamieson said.

“All necessary authorities were in attendance and will be investigating further.”

The names of the dead suspects have not yet been released.

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the suspects were linked to the killing of four people in Mariannhill on Monday night.
