Pretoria – Police trainee 23-year-old Tristan Chowles, who was admitted to a hospital in Pretoria, has gone missing after he was discharged.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) on Saturday, (21 September 2024), said an investigation and a widescale search for Chowles had been launched.
The missing trainee was undergoing a nine-month Basic Police Learning Development Programme (BPLDP) at the SAPS Tshwane Academy.
Chowles was admitted to a hospital in Pretoria on Wednesday, (18 September 2024), and was discharged the next day.
He has not been seen since.
“The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are currently under investigation and police have since mobilised maximum resources to find this missing trainee,” said national police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe.
“Chowles is a white male, he is 1,78 tall and has short blonde hair and blue eyes.
“A missing persons case has been opened at the Garsfontein police station.”
