Polokwane – A 43-year-old female Sergeant attached to a police station in Limpopo has been arrested on suspicion she committed several murders and fraudulently claimed from insurance policies.
Allegations are that the sergeant started her killing spree in 2019.
Investigations show the sergeant’s victims were known to her and were from destitute and disadvantaged backgrounds. Some were disabled or mentally challenged.
Allegations were that the sergeant took out life and funeral insurance cover on her victim’s behalf and she would be the beneficiary.
Investigations into the matter link the accused to at least six insurance-related murders and evidence shows she has pocketed R10 million.

“Following months of investigation, the investigating team obtained a warrant of arrest,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe.
“The warrant was executed at the police station, where she was arrested.”
National Commissioner of the South African Police Service General Fannie Masemola welcomed the arrest on Thursday, (10 October 2024).
General Masemola said any involvement of our own in such heinous crimes is a disgrace.
“As a police officer you are entrusted with the safety and security of communities,” said General Masemola.
“For a police officer entrusted with such a great responsibility to be involved in such acts is an absolute disgrace.
“This must send a strong warning to all involved that the long arm of the law will find you and catch you.“
The Sergeant is expected to appear before the Polokwane District Court on six counts of murder and 17 cases of fraud on Friday, (11 October 2024).
