SHARE

Middleburg – Four people died in a collision between a bakkie and a sedan on Monday, (14 October 2024).

The deadly collision occurred along the N4 in Middleburg, Mpumalanga.

The dead included an infant, the Bakkie’s driver, and two passengers.

Three other people – one of them the driver of the sedan – were critically injured in the collision.

A preliminary investigation revealed that both vehicles were travelling in the same direction when they collided side-on.

As a result of the side-swipe, the bakkie rolled several times before coming to a stop.

Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liason MEC Jackie Macie warned: “Motorists must be on high alert at all times when they are on the road.

“When visibility is restricted, drivers must reduce speed.

“Those who are driving long distances should rest sufficiently along the way to avoid crashes brought on by fatigue.”

MEC Macie extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
