Johannesburg – World-renowned music writer and producer Quincy Jones has died at the age of 91.
Reports said the producer extraordinaire died at his home in Bel Air, in the U.S.A. on Sunday night, (3 November 2024).
variety.com shared a statement by his representative Arnold Robinson on behalf of the family, that said: “Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing.
“And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.
“He is truly one of a kind and we will miss him dearly; we take comfort and immense pride in knowing that the love and joy, that were the essence of his being, was shared with the world through all that he created.
“Through his music and his boundless love, Quincy Jones’ heart will beat for eternity.”
However, the cause of Quincy Jones’ death was not disclosed.
Quincy Jones produced hits for internationally acclaimed musicians including Michael Jackson, Tevin Campbell, Tamia, James Ingram, Aretha Franklin, Letta Mbulu, and Caiphus Semenya.
In 1985, Quincy Jones gathered well-known musicians to form a world charity driven song “We Are The World” by U.S.A. for Africa, with the aim to help to alleviate hunger in some African countries then.
In his career as a record producer, songwriter, composer, arranger and film and television producer of over 70 years, Quincy Jones has had 80 Grammy Awards nominations, which he begged 28 of them.
