Johannesburg – The ongoing heatwave could work against Kaizer Chiefs when they travel to Limpopo to play Polokwane City in a Betway Premiership encounter at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Kick-off is at 15:30.

The SA Weather Service (SAWS) predicts that the heatwave could continue for the next few days – meaning Chiefs will have to endure the baking heat in the north – unless the kick-off can be delayed.

The Glamour Boys are looking to get back to winning ways after letting a two-goal lead slip against Royal AM.

The Soweto giants scored two goals in the first half through Ashley Du Preez and Wandile Dube.

However, Ayabulela Maxwele and Levy Mashiane scored for Royal AM to level the score 2-2 and share the points.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi was unhappy with the results and blamed a “lack of professionalism” by some Chiefs players, which let the 2-0 lead slip.

Aiming to correct the anomaly, the Tunisian mentor will have to factor in his game plan the soaring temperatures at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium that the Glamour Boys will likely have to endure.

Polokwane City has many local players, who are comfortable playing football under high temperatures.
