Pretoria – The Die Poskantoor Restaurant in Langenhoven Street, in Constantia Park, caught alight in the early hours this morning.
The City of Tshwane’s Emergency Services Department said it was called to assist Sunday morning, (15 December 2024), at about 03:57.
The Emergency Communication Centre immediately dispatched firefighters from the nearest fire stations, which included Hazelwood, Erasmuskloof, and Silverton, to the scene.
Firefighting operations continued until the fire was fully extinguished at about 05:55.
When the fire was put out, firefighters said no injuries were reported and animals in a nearby pet shop were safely protected during their operations.
Firefighters also ensured that the shopping centre was unaffected by the intense heat of the fire.
The South African Police Service and other private safety and security organisations were also present on the scene.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
