Cape Town – Struggling Cape Town City football club has announced a replacement for coach Eric Tinkler, who parted with the club earlier this week.
In a post on X, Cape Town City said the club, “is delighted to announce the appointment of Muhsin Ertugral as Technical Director of the club.
“Muhsin brings a wealth of local and international football experience to the club’s future project, having most recently served as the Technical Advisor of the Turkish national team for the past four years.
“Muhsin will step in as head coach until the end of the current season, joining first-team coaches Diogo Peral and Lebogang Manyama.”
Tinkler parted ways with Cape Town City on Tuesday, 29 December 2024, after the side suffered a fifth loss this season.
The proverbial “final straw that broke that camel’s back” was Cape Town City’s 0-1 weekend loss to AmaZulu.
Announcing Tinkler’s departure, the club said: “Cape Town City and head coach Eric Tinkler have mutually agreed to part ways.
“The club expresses gratitude towards Eric for the last three seasons where he presided over 2nd, 4th, and 5th place finishes.
“We wish Eric the very best for the future.
“The club will announce a new interim coach as we build up to an exciting new project for the 25/26 season and beyond.”
Meanwhile, Betway PSL’s bottom side, Magesi FC, this week appointed Owen da Gama as the club’s new coach after Clinton Larsen quit the club last month, (December 2024).
Winners of the Carling Knockout Cup, Magesi anchor the Betway PSL log after 10 matches.
