Johannesburg, South Africa – Get ready for a dynamic new era on Power 98.7’s Breakfast Show with a fresh and inspiring new voice, Tessa Dooms, one of South Africa’s most vibrant social activists, who joins the station.
Tessa, who joins Power 98.7 on the 3rd of March 2025, is a dynamic leader and an influential champion of democracy and human rights, with a diverse career spanning several fields, including activism, academia, and policy development.
“This is such an exciting time to be joining Power 98.7,” says Tessa.
“More and more people are speaking up about the pressing challenges facing our country, and we’re going to frame each day by creating a lively and engaging platform for their conversations.
“We’ll be kickstarting the morning in the most dynamic and informative way.”
Tessa will host Power Breakfast from 6 am to 9 am, followed by Power Talk with Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi from 9 am to 12 noon.

The launch of Ndlozi’s show was announced by the station last week. Veteran sports anchor and journalist Bareng-Batho Kortjaas – aka BBK – will join Tessa as sports presenter and show contributor on Power Breakfast, alongside traffic presenter and show contributor Lebohang Phokela.
BBK will also present the station’s flagship sports show, Power Sports Extra, on Fridays from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Power 98.7 is also announced the return of a founding voice of the station, Chris Vick, who will be back on air as host of our flagship weekend talkshow, Power Week, on Sundays from 9 am to noon from the 2nd of March.
Vick, who made his radio debut when Power 98.7 was launched 12 years ago, will be bringing back his passion for deconstructing current affairs in a show that will provide clarity on the big issues of the week, set against a backdrop of jazz, hip hop and soul.
The station expresses its gratitude to veteran journalist Lerato Mbhele, who is stepping down from Power Talk.
Over the past year, Lerato graciously extended her time with Power 98.7 beyond her original contract.
She will now dedicate her energy to her extensive work in African geopolitics and economics.
The current host of the Breakfast Show, Thabiso “TT” Tema, will take over the Power Perspective show from 8 pm to midnight, Mondays to Thursdays.
The current host of Power Perspective, Denzil Taylor, will be vacating the seat to play a new content role within Power News.
