Johannesburg – Celebrated comedian, actor, and writer Ebenhaezer Dibakwane has died, his family announced on Saturday,(8 March 2025).
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of celebrated comedian, actor, and writer Ebenhaezer Dibakwane,” his family said in a statement made available to The Bulrushes.
“A friend to so many, he will be remembered for his off-the-wall humour, original style of stand-up comedy, and the joy he brought to audiences across South Africa.
Born in 1994, the young comic drew attention to his talents when he won the Savanna Comics’ Choice Newcomer of The Year Award.
Ebenhaezer subsequently won a second Savanna Comics’ Choice Award for Intermediate Comedian of The Year as well as two other Comic’s Choice nominations, showing how immensely popular and respected he was in the industry.
“He was also recognised for his writing skills when he was nominated for a SAFTA for Best Achievement in Scriptwriting,” the statement said.
“To know Ebenhaezer was to love him, and he’ll be sorely missed.
“The Dibakwane family appreciates the support that has been shown thus far. Details for Memorial and Funeral services will be communicated in due course.”
