Johannesburg – Joburg Metrobus services have been suspended today owing to a strike by drivers.

In a notice posted on X on Monday, (10 March 2025), Joburg Metrobus said: “Due to unlawful industrial action by a number of drivers, it is clear that operations will be severely impacted on all routes tomorrow 11 March 2025.

“While Metrobus management has engaged with the aggrieved employees, talks did not yield a resolution.

“Further engagements were held between City officials and Metrobus employees and will continue tomorrow.

“Management hereby apologises to all our loyal commuters and undertakes to do all in our power to resolve this situation speedily.”

Drivers affiliated with the South African Municipal Workers Union are striking for more pay.
