‘Marry Me’ Killings: 2 Suspects Appear In Court, Remanded In Custody

Pretoria – Two men, a 27-year-old Zimbabwean, and a 50-year-old man local man – arrested in connection with the murder of five patrollers at the Marry Me informal settlement in Sohsnguve – have appeared at the Pretoria North Magistrates’ Court.

The accused who can not be named or photographed because they are yet to appear before an identity parade.

“On 24 March 2025, the two were arrested separately by police after being found with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition in Soshanguve Extension 6 and Extension 20,” said NPA Gauteng Spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana

“The arrest comes after police were investigating the incident where patrol members were killed in Soshanguve, [Merry Me informal settlement].”  

However, in court today, (Wednesday 26 March 2025), the accused only faced a charge of possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition.
