Johannesburg – Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has announced that several of its key airports have achieved the Airport Council International’s (ACI’s) Public Health and Safety Readiness accreditation for the financial period 2024/25.
ACSA explained that ACI’s evaluate airports’ alignment with global public health and safety standards, ensuring they are well-equipped in the face of uncertainty to implement industry-leading measures.
“As critical transport hubs, transmissible disease is a high risk therefore comprehensive health measures are important,” the airports company said.
ACSA launched a structured framework in early 2024 to guide all participating airports through the accreditation process.
This initiative aligns with ACSA’s long-term strategy to have all its airports accredited by 2028/29.
At this stage, ACSA’s O.R. Tambo International Airport (ORTIA), King Shaka International Airport (KSIA), Cape Town International (CTIA), and Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport (CDSIA) have successfully achieved the ACI’s Public Health & Safety Readiness accreditation.

“This milestone reflects ACSA’s steadfast commitment to maintaining regulatory alignment and ensuring compliance with global aviation health and safety requirements.
“Our proactive approach to safeguarding public health underscores our dedication to protecting passengers, employees, and stakeholders.”
