Pretoria – Some parts of Tshwane that have had no electricity since Workers’ Day have had power restored.
The City of Tshwane said Saturday, (2 May 2025), said: “Tshwane’s Energy and Electricity team, which has been working tirelessly to ensure that it restores power supply to the areas that are fed by the Theresa Park Secondary Substation, has made significant progress with the repairs.
“Most of these areas have been without electricity since Thursday, (1 May 2025), after the Theresa Park Substation suffered vandalism and a cable theft incident.”
The City of Tshwane said its Energy and Electricity team had managed to energise the substation and subsequently restored power supply to the following areas:
- Nina Park
- Eldorette
- Theresapark
- Dorandia
- Tileba
- Florauna
“Parts of Ninapark, Heatherdale, Hesteapark, and Winternest are still affected by the outage as the team continues to do repairs on the jumper cables,” the City of Tshwane said.
“The entire area of Clarina is still off due to the multiple cable faults that are affecting the network.
“The team is on site attending to the faults.”
The City of Tshwane said the team will continue to gradually restore power supply to the areas that are still affected as and when progress is made with the repairs.
“Most of the remaining areas are expected to have power restored by the evening of Sunday, (4 May 2025),” the City of Tshwane said.
“The City apologises for the inconvenience caused. Residents will be kept abreast of the latest developments.”
