Hazyview – Law enforcers in Mpumalanga have been left puzzled after a decomposed body was found between the ceiling and the roof of the Hazyview Police Station.
Police are now investigating how the decomposed body discovered on Thursday, 26 June 2025, ended up on the roof.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli said tools were also found next to the body.
“According to a report, there was an awful smell that was detected within and around the building block at Hazyview Police Station,” Brigadier Mdhluli said.
“Suspicions were that it was possibly a dead animal that caused the unbearable smell.
“During the removal of the roof tiles, the body of a male person was discovered under the rafters.
“The body was in a state of decomposition.”
Brigadier Mdhluli said preliminary investigations suggest that the man could have been electrocuted.
“The man has not yet been identified and he remains unknown at this stage,” Brigadier Mdhluli said.
