Durban – One person died and 35 others were injured in a collision between a bus and a truck along the M25 before the KwaMashu off-ramp

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the horrific collision occurred “this morning” before 07:00.

He said that when ALS Paramedics and KwaZulu-Natal VIP arrived on the scene, they found “chaos and carnage”.

Jamieson said it was alleged that a truck travelling Durban-bound somehow lost control and veered across the centre median and collided with a bus.

Paramedics found multiple casualties.

Immediately, more ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics were requested and dispatched to the scene.

A triage was done, and 35 people were found to have sustained various injuries.

Jameison said multiple ambulances were used to stabilise the injured on scene before the patients were transported to various Durban hospitals for further care that they required.

“Unfortunately, the truck driver, a male believed to be in his 50s, was found entrapped in the wreckage with major injuries,” said Jamieson.

“Unfortunately, there was nothing paramedics could do for him, and he was declared deceased on the scene.”

Traffic was severely affected in the area.

The police were in attendance at the crash scene.
