Pretoria – The University of South Africa (Unisa) has announced that it will hold its prestigious Unisa Vice-Chancellor’s Annual Music Concert on Saturday, 4 October 2025, at the Unisa Muckleneuk Campus in Pretoria.
This invitation-only concert will feature renowned South African musical powerhouses Simphiwe Dana, Phumeza Matshikiza, as well as eminent concert pianist Megan Geoffrey-Prins, accompanied by the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO), conducted by acclaimed conductor, Maestro Daniel Boico (Former Music Director and Chief Conductor of the MÁV Budapest Symphony Orchestra).
It will showcase the institution’s various facets of music, including the Unisa Music Foundation’s outreach programme, national and international competitions, music ensembles, and the year of the voice (in 2025/2026, Unisa hosts the 3rd National and 7th International Voice Competitions).
“The event will also provide an opportunity for the university to network with stakeholders, especially potential sponsors, donors, and the diplomatic community; thus, advancing the opportunity for collaboration and sponsorship,” Unisa said in a statement.
“In addition to great performances by iconic musicians, the concert will mark and celebrate the end of Professor Puleng LenkaBula’s successful first term as Unisa’s Principal and Vice-Chancellor.
“LenkaBula is the first woman to serve as Vice-Chancellor in the history of the university, from January 2021.
“Her second term will commence in January 2026.”
