Johannesburg – FlySafair has introduced two new routes from Lanseria International Airport to King Phalo Airport and Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport in the Eastern Cape.
Welcoming the move, Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) announced that FlySafair began operating from Lanseria to Chief Dawid Stuurman Airport on Saturday, 1 November 2025, and will do so seven times a week.
ACSA said the new flights will also depart from Lanseria International Airport to King Phalo Airport six times a week, from Sunday, 2 November 2025.
Air services continue to play a key role in ensuring ease of travel for tourists; non-stop flights are popular because they are more convenient and save time for travelers.
Locally, a resilient domestic market has been critical to the recovery of air travel in South Africa.
ACSA said FlySafair is poised to play a pivotal role in driving these airports toward full post-Covid recovery and positioning them on a sustainable path of positive growth for these two airports.
Overall, domestic travel now contributes more than 69% of the Airport Company South Africa’s (ACSA) airport network traffic.
“As FlySafair adds a new route into the market, we would like to see this development stimulate travel and accelerate traffic volumes,” ACSA said.
Airport Manager at Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport, Claudia Daniels, welcomed the additional flights, emphasising their role in strengthening business and leisure connections between the two regions and improving air connectivity.
Nicola Smith, Airport Manager at King Phalo Airport, adds that the new route will contribute significantly to stimulating growth in the region, highlighting how the airport will aim to continue working with airline partners to drive sustainability and stability in the market to ensure that air travel remains accessible, for the benefit of all our stakeholders.
Vuyani Dayimani, CEO of Eastern Cape Parks & Tourism Agency, remarks that reliable and expanded air connectivity is a major boost for the Eastern Cape’s tourism economy.
These new routes to the Eastern Cape will make it easier for visitors to experience our diverse and authentic offerings, from nature reserves and beaches to cultural iconic landmarks and events, while unlocking real opportunities for small businesses and communities across the province.
Further adding that they welcome FlySafair’s commitment to improving access to the Eastern Cape and helping position it as a leading tourist destination.
ACSA said it remains committed to fostering sustainable aviation and facilitating seamless travel experiences for all passengers.
