Pretoria – Former Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba says he will himself over to authorities and appear in court in connection with alleged corruption at Transnet.
Pre-empting his arrest on Friday, 7 November 2025, Gigaba posted on X: “I have been summoned to appear in court this morning.
“I do not know what the charges are yet, but I’ll let you know after receiving the charge sheet.
“Let me declare that I have full confidence in our courts – they are the forum where facts, not fiction, will finally prevail.
“My confidence is built on irrefutable evidence and a commitment to full transparency. #FactsWillPrevail“
Gigaba also attached a letter saying he had been informed by the National Prosecuting Authority that he is required to attend court on 7 November 2025, where he will be formally charged in connection with ongoing proceedings related to procurement activity at Transnet.
However, responding to media queries, the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) announced that Gigaba has not been arrested and will not appear in court.
“Kindly note that Mr. Malusi Gigaba has not been placed under arrest,” IDAC Spokesperson Henry Mamothame said in a terse statement.
“He is engaging IDAC, and there will be no court appearance today. IDAC will not be commenting any further on the matter.”
