Durban – There has been a multiple-vehicle crash along the M4 Northern Freeway between M41 and Umhlanga, north of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the collision, which occurred around noon on Saturday, 13 December 2025, involved a truck, a minibus taxi, and a bakkie.
“Unfortunately, we do have some fatalities that are currently entrapped in the wreckage on the scene,” said Jamieson.
However, it was later established that only one person, believed to be a nurse in her 40’s, died in the crash.
Two people were critically injured, Jamieson said.
At least 14 others sustained minor injuries.
Jamieson said the road has been closed in both directions.

Another person succumbed to their injuries in the hospital, bringing the death toll from the multiple vehicle crash to two.
