BIG MOVE: Steve Barker has joined Tanzania football powerhouse Simba SC as head coach

Cape Town — South African football coach Steve Barker has ended his tenure at Stellenbosch FC to take over as head coach of Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC.

The move comes amid Simba’s search for stability following the firing of Bulgarian coach Dimitar Pantev earlier this month due to underwhelming results in the Tanzanian Premier League and continental competitions.

The 57-year-old tactician leaves Stellenbosch as one of the most respected figures in South African football.

Simba SC, known as the “Wekundu wa Msimbazi” or Red of Msimbazi, unveiled Barker in a statement emphasising his experience and tactical acumen.
