Johannesburg – Jacaranda FM’s digital audio offering, JacPod, has reached new heights in 2025 as two of its flagship podcasts were honoured by Spotify South Africa for their exceptional quality and listener engagement.

The accolades showcase Jacaranda FM’s position as a leading creator of premium on-demand content that resonates deeply with the South African audience.

Season three of the popular Afrikaans podcast Mevrou Mevrou secured a prestigious spot in the Top 5 of the Spotify SA Editor’s Pick for 2025 for the episode titled “Mevrou kry lelik stry oor die lys vir Kerspersente”.

The episode struck a chord with listeners as hosts Gerda de Sousa and Dianne Broodryk unpacked the relatable stresses of festive season planning.

In the episode, a spirited debate erupted over gift-giving etiquette.

Dianne Broodryk stood firm on her rule that only family members physically present on Christmas Day receive purchased gifts, while Gerda de Sousa argued for the tradition of wrapping a gift for every loved one, regardless of where they spend the day.

This authentic, humorous, and sometimes heated exchange proved to be a hit with listeners.

Further cementing the station’s digital success, ‘True Crime South Africa – die Afrikaanse weergawe’s third season was selected as one of the Top 10 podcasts on Spotify for 2025.

The series, which provides in-depth analysis of South Africa’s most high-profile cases in Afrikaans, has become a staple for true crime enthusiasts, praised for its meticulous research and compelling storytelling.

Delivering Quality On Demand

These accolades highlight the strategic growth of the JacPod portfolio, which focuses on delivering diverse, high-quality audio content beyond traditional radio broadcasting.

“We are incredibly proud of the teams behind ‘Mevrou Mevrou’ and ‘True Crime South Africa – die Afrikaanse weergawe’ for these remarkable achievements,” says Vuyani Dombo, Managing Director at Jacaranda FM.

“To have our content recognised by a global giant like Spotify is a testament to the talent and dedication within our JacPod stable.

“Our goal has always been to extend the Jacaranda FM experience beyond live radio and into meaningful, on-demand content that resonates with our audiences’ real lives.

“To see Spotify recognise our podcasts at this level speaks to the strength of our creators, the relevance of our stories and the appetite for quality local audio.”

Listeners can stream both award-winning podcasts, along with the full JacPod library, on the Jacaranda FM website, the Jacaranda FM App, and all major streaming platforms, including Spotify.
