Durban – Two security officials were left wounded after a cash-in-transit robbery on the N2 South Bound near the NPC Cement Factory South of Durban.

ALS Paramedics were alerted just after 05h30 this morning, Wednesday, 4 March 2026, about multiple security officials who had been shot.

Spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said that when ALS Paramedics arrived on the scene, they found that two security officials had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

“One of the guards had sustained critical injuries, and immediately the Netcare911 Helicopter was activated to assist in rapidly transporting the man to a nearby Hospital for the urgent care that he required,” Jamieson said.

“The second security official had sustained serious injuries and was stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to a nearby Hospital for further care that he required.

“The N2 was closed from the M7 Edwin swales offramp and will be for some time to allow investigations to continue.

“I would advise all motorists to avoid this area at all costs.”

The cash van on the side of the road was left with the doors ripped off, indicating that the robbers got to the money.

Police were on the scene.

The amount of money stolen remains unknown, and no arrests have been reported.
