Johannesburg – This Easter weekend, two of Gauteng’s most loved wildlife destinations, Lion & Safari Park and the Bothongo Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve, are transforming into vibrant family playgrounds, offering visitors an unforgettable mix of wildlife, entertainment, and festive fun.

From 3 – 5 April 2026, guests can expect a lively atmosphere filled with interactive kids’ activities, exciting competitions, and the chance to experience some of South Africa’s most iconic wildlife up close.

Designed with families in mind, both parks will host a range of Easter-themed activities to keep younger visitors entertained throughout the day.

These include face painting, balloon sculpting, colouring stations, and a special appearance from the Easter Bunny, who will be handing out Easter eggs to delighted children.

Beyond the festivities, visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in a social media competition running across the long weekend.

Guests who visit either park between 3–5 April can snap a photo at the on-site selfie frame, share it on Instagram and tag the park to stand a chance of winning unforgettable wildlife experiences.

At Lion & Safari Park, one lucky winner will walk away with the ultimate adventure package for two valued at over R6 000.

This includes a sunset safari experience with a picnic setup, a snack board, and a bottle of sparkling wine, a quad bike experience, a horseback safari, and a R1 000 food voucher.

Meanwhile, at the Bothongo Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve, the prize promises an equally memorable experience with an incredible experience for two, including a sunset safari experience with a picnic setup, a snack board and a bottle of sparkling wine, a WonderCave tour and a R1 000 food voucher – also valued at over R6 000.

Whether it’s spotting wildlife, enjoying family-friendly entertainment, or simply soaking up the outdoors, both wildlife destinations offer something for everyone this Easter weekend.

With added activities and the chance to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences, both parks are set to be must-visit destinations over the long weekend.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to make the most of the day’s activities and to ensure they don’t miss out on the festive atmosphere and competition entry.
