Cala – The Electoral Commission (IEC) has announced that the African National Congress (ANC) has won the by-election in Ward 09 in the Sakhisizwe Municipality, Eastern Cape.
The by-elections were held yesterday, Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
The IEC said the ANC retained the Ward 09 seat it held in the 2021 Municipal Elections.
“The new ANC Councillor is Mntuwoxolo Hobson Maranjana,”’ the IEC stated.
“The party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections with 84.45% of the total votes cast, compared to 59.98% in the 2021 Municipal Elections.”
The IEC said voter turnout was 47.15%.
