Johannesburg – The South African Post Office (SAPO) has announced that it will no longer process Postbank transactions and support services.

In a terse statement today, Thursday, 30 April 2026, SAPO announced that, “with effect from Saturday, 2 May 2026, Postbank-related transactions and support services will no longer be available at any SAPO branch”.

The statement issued on behalf of the Joint South African Post Office Business Rescue Practitioners, Anoosh Rooplal and Juanito Damons, explained that the change follows the expiry of the Service Level Agreement (SLA) between SAPO and Postbank.

The SLA closed on 31 March 2026, after which Postbank chose not to undertake a new agreement with SAPO.

“SAPO kindly requests that Postbank customers do not visit Post Office branches for any Postbank banking services, as our staff will unfortunately be unable to assist with these transactions,” the statement said.

Postbank customers are encouraged to make use of designated service channels and platforms for all their banking needs.

Customers seeking assistance are advised to contact Postbank directly through the following official channels:

  • Toll-Free Telephone: 0800 53 54 55
  • WhatsApp (Text only): 083 280 4169
  • Email: customersupport@postbank.co.za
