Durban – A female driver in her 50’s has been shot dead in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban.
Spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said ALS Paramedics was alerted to the shooting along Longacres Drive just before 7am this morning, Monday, 4 May 2026.
“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find South African Police Service officers and Security Personnel already in attendance, with the area cornered off,” Jamieson said.
“Paramedics were shown to a vehicle where the driver, a Female believed to be in her 50s, had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to her upper body.
“Paramedics assessed the patient; however, there was nothing Paramedics could do for her, and she was declared deceased on the scene.”
No one else sustained any injuries.
The dead woman was not immediately identified, and no arrests were reported.
At this stage, the events leading up to the shooting are unknown; however, South African Police Service officers were in attendance and will be investigating further.
