Durban – A building that was under renovation in the central business district has collapsed on top of workers.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the building, situated along Union Lane, collapsed just before 11:00 on Saturday, 9 May 2026.
“At this stage, one person is believed to be severely entrapped,” said Jamieson.
Three others were injured, one of them had to be stabilised on the scene before being taken to a hospital.
After about an hour and a half, eThekwini Emergency Services, using heavy lifting equipment, managed to rescue the worker trapped under the rubble..
He was taken to the hospital.
