Delmas – Just over a week ago, Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni and his three co-accused in an extortion matter walked out of the Mkobola Magistrate’s Court in Kwaggafontein after their matter was struck off the roll because the prosecutor was a no-show.
But the taxi-boss’s freedom bid was short-lived.
Together with his co-accused, Sibanyoni has been summonsed to appear before the Delmas Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga tomorrow, Thursday, 28 May 2026.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said it has a strong case against the accused – Sibanyoni, Bafana “King of Sky” Sindane, Mvimbi Masilela, and Philemon Msiza.
The extortion and money laundering case involving more than R2 million will be re-enrolled when the accused appear before the court in Delmas.
All four had been arrested and were applying for bail on Monday, 18 May 2026, when their matter was struck off the roll by Chief Magistrate Tuletu Tonjeni, who set the accused free.

She also slapped the no-show prosecutor, Mkhuseli Ntaba, with a guilty verdict of contempt of court in absentia and issued a warrant for his arrest.
The NPA immediately moved to suspend Prosecutor Ntaba.
However, it has since emerged that the prosecutor did not simply abdicate from his duties but had been threatened not to do so.
As a result, the NPA made an about-turn and has now appealed against the arrest warrant and requested that the actions of the chief magistrate be reviewed.

Speaking to the SABC News (channel 404), NPA Spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said the four accused were served with summons to return to appear at the Delmas Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Thursday, 28 May 2026.
He said this occurred after the NPA filed an appeal and reported the magistrate’s “misconduct” to the Magistrate Judicial Commission.
“What is going to happen tomorrow is that the matter will be re-enrolled in court in Delmas,” Kganyago said.
”For now, it is a matter of re-enrolling it and making sure that it is back and going through the system of the court.”
Kganyago confirmed that the NPA was appealing the chief magistrate’s contempt of court finding against prosecutor Ntaba and the warrant of arrest.
“We felt that what was done was not done properly. So we did a leave to appeal,” the spokesperson explained.
“The magistrate commission had to be informed, and a formal charge was laid against the magistrate for what we believe was misconduct.”
Sibanyoni and his co-accused allegedly extorted about R2,2 million in “protection fees” from a businessman between roughly 2022 and 2025.
