Johannesburg – The third suspect in the R15 million robbery of precious stones from an apartment in Killarney has handed herself over to the police.
Announcing the development, Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) spokesperson Lizzy Suping said the third suspect handed herself over at the Edenvale Police Station today, Monday 6 July 2026.
Earlier today, the other two arrested suspects – Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality Police Department (EMPD) Officer Constable Adriaan Norman Mackenzie and Businessman Etienne van der Walt – appeared in Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.
They were remanded in custody until their next appearance 16 July 2026.

IPID said Mackenzie and Van der Walt were arrested on 4 and 5 July 2026 for their unlawful conduct in the alleged raid of a property and seizure of precious stones valued at just under R15 million in Killarney, Johannesburg.
“The 3rd suspect on the alleged theft of previous stones has handed herself over at the Edenvale Police Station,” Suping said.
“The suspect will make her first appearance before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Tuesday 7 July 2026.”
Suping said the arrest of the third suspect means that two suspects remain on the run.
