Businessman Tebogo Mothapo’s Murder: Suspect Osama Asad Appears In Court

Polokwane – Naturalised South African citizen of Pakistani origin, 27-year-old Osama Asad, has appeared before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder of businessman Tebogo Mothapo.

The 43-year-old Limpopo businessman was shot dead on 16 December 2025, in Mankweng Zone 1.

The accused, Asad, was arrested by the Limpopo Provincial Tracking Team and Provincial Investigation Unit on Monday, 20 July 2026, at Ga-Mothapo, Tjatjaneng village.

During his arrest, Asad was found in possession of the deceased’s cellphone, which had been stolen on the night of the murder.

Earlier today, Wednesday, 22 July 2026, the suspect, Asad, appeared in court facing charges of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and possession of stolen property.

The matter was adjourned to 31 July 2026 for profiling, and the accused was remanded in custody.
