Durban – A man in his 30s is fighting for his life after he was shot in the stomach and legs by unknown assailants on the footbridge between the M7 and Oliver Lee Drive in Umbilo.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said they were alerted to a shooting incident that occurred just before 6 pm on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.
“ALS Paramedics were called by Homeland Security to assist with a male who had been shot numerous times and was in a critical condition on the footbridge between the M7 and Oliver Lee Drive in Umbilo,” said Jamieson.
“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the man believed to be in his 30s in a critical condition, with first aid being administered to him.
“Advanced Life Support Paramedics took over the scene and worked to stabilise the man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen and legs before rushing him off to a nearby hospital for the urgent care that he required.”
The motive of the shooting was unknown, and police were investigating.
