Pretoria – Extortion-accused taxi boss Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni has been served with a subpoena to appear before the Madlanga Commission Inquiry into Criminality, Political Interference, and Corruption in the Criminal Justice System.
Nicknamed “Joe Ferrari” because of his love of the Italian little “Prancing Horse” models, the taxi boss, who is out on bail of R70 000, has been ordered to present himself before the Commission in just over a week, from 28 August to 2 September 2026.
The 60-year-old Mpumalanga taxi boss faces charges of extortion and money laundering involving more than R2.2 million in alleged “protection fees” collected from a businessman between 2022 and 2025.
Joe Ferrari, a self-proclaimed man of God, and three co-accused are out on bail of R70 000 each, and the ongoing extortion matter is before the Delmas Magistrate’s Court.
One of Joe Ferrari’s co-accused in the matter is his homeboy and business associate, Bafana “King of Sky” Sindane, who has also been summoned to testify before the Commission.
Speculation was that Sibanyoni would be asked to comment on his alleged involvement with “Kwagga 20”, a gang that gained infamy for terrorising businesspeople and residents at large, especially in KwaMhlanga, Kwaggafontein and Siyabuswa.
