Polokwane – Teenage murder-accused Kagontle Moshibudi Sina Bopape, the second suspect arrested for the fatal shooting of 43-year-old businessman Tebogo Mothapo, is expected back in court today, Thursday, 1 September 2026.
The 19-year-old woman first appeared before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court, Limpopo, on Monday, 31 August 2026.
The teenager faces several charges, including conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit murder, murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of unlicensed ammunition and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the charges emanate from the murder of businessman Mothapo, who was attacked and shot dead in Mankweng on 16 December 2025.
He said Bopape was arrested on Sunday, 30 August 2026, following an intelligence-driven operation conducted by a multidisciplinary team comprising the Provincial Investigation Unit, Provincial Tracking Team and Capricorn Tracing Team, assisted by an external law enforcement partner, Tshimollo Security and Investigations.
“Her arrest brings to two the number of suspects arrested in connection with the murder,” Colonel Ledwaba said.
“The first suspect, 27-year-old Osama Asad, a naturalised South African of Pakistani origin, was arrested on 20 July 2026 at Ga-Mothapo, Tjatjaneng.”
The matter against Bopape resumes today, Tuesday, 1 September 2026, to allow her to obtain legal aid.
Meanwhile, the matter against Osama Asad also resumes today.
