Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) – Police have seized drugs with an estimated street value of over R9.7 million and arrested a 38-year-old suspect during an intelligence-driven operation in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.
Police spokesperson Colonel Amanda van Wyk said the drug bust took place yesterday, on Saturday, 24 October 2026.
“Acting on intelligence-led information, a team operating under Operation Ukubuza executed a search warrant at an identified address in Rowallan Park, Gqeberha,” Van Wyk said.
“During the operation, the police found a suspect inside a vehicle parked in the garage at the premises.
“A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of various types of drugs suspected to be mandrax, cocaine and tik, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.”
Van Wyk said the police also found drug-packaging materials and cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.
“The suspected drug substances will be subjected to a forensic analysis to confirm their exact composition,” the police spokesperson said.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 26 October 2026.
