Cape Town – The South African Post Office (SAPO) has announced that it will reopen Grassy Park Post Office next week on Monday 2 November 2026.

SAPO said reopening the Post Office at 89 7th Avenue, Retreat, restores access to postal services for customers from Grassy Park and surrounding communities.

The branch will occupy the former Retreat Post Office building, about 4 km from its previous premises, and will retain the Grassy Park Post Office name.

“Extensive refurbishment and fitting out of the premises, supported by ongoing community engagement, have prepared the branch for reopening,” SAPO said in a statement made available to The Bulrusheson Monday, 26 October 2026.

“The two staff members from the previous Grassy Park branch will return to serve customers at the new location.

“The branch will offer a full range of traditional postal services, with post-boxes available on-site .”

SAPO explained that presently mail is received at the Retreat Depot, where customers collect their items.

“As Grassy Park Post Office is located in the same building, mail collection will now form part of its services,” SAPO said.

Registered mail and parcels

Customers who are waiting to receive registered mail and parcels should check the website to track where their registered items are.

Up until 2 November 2026, you can collect at the stated post office as per Track and Trace.

Once Grassy Park opens on 2 November, registered mail and parcels will go there.

This will be clearly noted on the track and trace option on the SAPO website.

“We look forward to welcoming our Grassy Park customers back and encourage residents and local businesses to make use of the branch,” said SAPO Acting CEO Fathima Gany.

“This reopening reflects the hard work of our colleagues and the value of engaging with the communities we serve.

“Thank you to everyone who has helped make it possible.”
