Mogale City – The Gauteng Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) will today, Friday, 30 October 2026, unveil its technology-driven water management solution in Mogale City Local Municipality.
The technology-driven solution will help municipalities curb water losses, improve the reliability of household water supply and test water quality.
CoGTA has appointed the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research to implement the solution, which uses telemetry technology to enable real-time monitoring and leak detection of municipal reservoirs.
“This will support a faster response to water losses and supply disruptions and improve water delivery to communities,” said Spokesperson for Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development and Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Jacob Mamabolo
“Mogale City was selected to pilot the solution, with implementation under way in the Kagiso and Kenmare water systems.
“The pilot combines advanced diagnostics and data analytics to identify system inefficiencies and strengthen municipal water management.”
