Pretoria – The GOOD party, which is part of the multi-party coalition government that runs the City of Tshwane, has expressed concern about the allegations of corruption against officials and some representatives of other political parties.
The alleged corrupt practices have been uncovered during witness testimony at the ongoing Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Earlier this week, on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) Deputy Chief Revo Spies testified at the Madlanga Commission, where he alleged systemic corruption and irregularities in a R2.9 billion security tender for guarding municipal assets.
Evidence before the commission suggests that corrupt activities linked to tenders can be traced back to at least 2022.
“The recent evidence presented at the Madlanga Commission heard that politicians and officials within the City of Tshwane may have been involved in efforts to influence tenders, including a multi-million-rand security tender, in the capital city,” the GOOD Party stated on Thursday, 26 March 2026.
The security tender was awarded under the previous administration in March 2022.
“Allegations of political interference and of administrative interference in supply chain processes are illegal, and I welcome the immediate steps taken to investigate these allegations of corruption,” the party said.
The GOOD Party demanded that action must be taken against the culprits if these claims of corruption are proven correct.
“We are not judging those implicated, but I support swift action on these allegations and implementation of any criminal charges that may arise from the investigations,” the party said.
For the City of Tshwane to run effectively, it needs to clear the air on some of the allegations that have emerged from the Madlanga Commission.
The GOOD Party was founded by Minister Patricia de Lille, one of the leading whistleblowers against corruption in South Africa.
The part said it wishes to state on record that it will not tolerate any form of corruption anywhere.
