Gembokspruit – Members of Parliament from uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) set aside their political differences to mourn the passing of 83-year-old Christina Phelakwakhe Skosana.

The deceased was the mother of MKP MP David Skosana. She passed away on Monday (20 April 2026).

In a display of Ubuntu, EFF leader, MP Julius Malema, on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, was seen arriving at the Skosana home in Gembokspruit, Mpumalanga, where he consoled his fellow parliamentarian.

MP Skosana is the husband of former Public Protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane, who is now the MKP leader in Mpumalanga.

Malema, who was accompanied by his deputy Godrich Gardee and Mpumalanga EFF leader Collen Sedibe, said it was vital for politicians to show Ubuntu by setting aside their differences to mourn the deceased.

MKP Treasurer General Brian Molefe was also present.

The philosophy of Ubuntu espouses the idea that a person’s humanity is tied to the humanity of others. It asserts that individuals are not isolated beings but are part of a larger, interconnected community.

“We have to put our differences aside to give a dignified funeral to the one who passed away,” said Malema.

“It is what we are here for to say as the MK and Skosana family, you are not alone, we are with you as an African family.

“You must know that an African child is not a child of his own family alone,” said Malema.

Outside the homestead, the spirit of camaraderie was also on display as member of MKP and EFF in their party regalia came together to mourn the much-loved Gogo Skosana.
