Moscow – A new thematic exhibition dedicated to the legendary Igor Moiseyev State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble has opened in the Moscow Metro.

The exhibition is located in the passage between Dinamo station on the Line 2 and Petrovsky Park station on the Bolshaya Koltsevaya line.

Passengers can explore the creative legacy of the outstanding choreographer and founder, Igor Alexandrovich Moiseyev, as well as the ensemble’s unique style, which has become a symbol of Russian dance culture worldwide.

Igor Moiseyev (21 January 1906 – 2 November 2007) was a Soviet and Russian choreographer and ballet master acclaimed for revolutionising folk dance into a sophisticated theatrical form recognised worldwide.

The exhibition features 30 display panels with vivid photographs of the ensemble’s performances, including:

  • A suite of old Russian dances
  • The legendary “Yablochko”
  • Chinese ribbon dance
  • “Polovtsian Dances”
  • Argentine gaucho dance

The exhibition will be open through May 11 inclusive.

The project continues the Moscow Metro’s cultural program aimed at introducing passengers to outstanding achievements of national art.
