FREED: TV host Jub Jub, whose real name is Molemo Katleho Maarohanye, has been released on bail

Johannesburg – Television presenter Jub Jub, whose real name is Molemo Katleho Maarohanye, has been released from custody on bail.

Maarohanye was arrested on 14 June 2026 for allegedly pointing a firearm at an e-hailing driver in Edenvale.

According to information before the court, police subsequently searched his residence, seized a pellet gun, and arrested him.

Commenting on the matter on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said it “notes the release on bail of Molemo Katleho Maarohanye”.

The NPA said “Jub Jub” was granted bail by the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Johannesburg following an urgent application brought before the court.

In his urgent application, Maarohanye raised concerns regarding the delay in his appearance before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on 15 June 2026 and sought his release on bail pending his first court appearance.

Earlier today, 16 June 2026, the high court granted the application and ordered his release on bail of R5 000.

The matter was postponed to 22 June 2026 in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court for further investigation.

The NPA said it remains committed to ensuring that the matter is dealt with fairly, impartially, and in accordance with the law, while safeguarding the interests of justice.

Jub Jub, a Hip Hop artist, is also famed for hosting popular TV shows that include Uyajola 9/9, You Promised to Marry Me, and Uthando Noxolo.
