Nairobi – South Africa’s SPAR Proteas continued their winning streak in their second match at the Africa Netball Cup 2026, against Zimbabwe’s Gems.
South Africa won the match 58–41. Head Coach Jenny van Dyk made a few changes to her starting seven compared to the previous match. Refiloe Nketsa earned her 50th cap for the team on the day.
South Africa began the game strongly and dominated the first quarter.
They were tactically disciplined, forcing the opposition to commit numerous unforced errors.
The Proteas led 14–6 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter saw the team continue their momentum. They exerted greater pressure on Zimbabwe and went into the break leading 29–17.
Coach van Dyk made one change in the Championship quarter by introducing Tinita van Dyk as the replacement for Rolene Streukter at the goal shooter position.
Tinita quickly established herself by converting from South Africa’s centre pass.
At the end of the 45 minutes, the Proteas were leading 44–30.
South Africa made further changes in the final quarter by introducing Owethu Ngubane for Kamogelo Maseko.
Luca Keun replaced Thulisile Maduna, Kyla Dames came on for Refiloe Nketsa, and Nonsikelelo Mazibuko for Tinita van Dyk, who moved to goalkeeping duties.
Despite these changes, the Proteas maintained their dominance and secured victory.
South Africa has now gone two games without a loss in the ongoing Africa Netball Cup 2026, taking place from 19-26 September at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
