A 50-year-old woman driver died Wednesday after her car veered off the N4, near the Donkerhoek offramp, and crashed into a tree.

Emer-G-Med said paramedics responded to an emergency call in the late afternoon along the N4 west.

“On arrival on the (crash) scene a single light motor vehicle was found to have left the roadway and smashed into a tree,” said Emer-G-Med.

“A 50-year-old female driver and only occupant of the vehicle was declared dead by paramedics.

“The cause of the collision and the events preceding it are unclear and will form the subject of a South African Police Service  investigation.”

The name of the deceased woman has not yet been released.
