Sir Lewis Hamilton – the seven-time Formula 1 champion – has ended his visit to Namibia on a high, telling the world he has seen “one of the most stunning places” and experienced a “life-changing re-set”.
The well-travelled British driver arrived in Namibia last week on Tuesday and headed for Sossusvlei, a spectacular landmark.
A renowned advocate for equality among all people, Sir Lewis said his trip to Namibia was something he wanted to do for years.
“I’m finally tracing my roots through Africa and guys, to say this journey has been a grounding experience is an understatement,” tweeted Sir Lewis.
“This has been a life hcnging reset. I feel like I gained a new persperctive on life, grown an even stronger love for animals and became even closer with my brothers who I’ve have shared this special journey with.
“Everywhere I look there is so much beauty, and I feel trully re-centred and at peace”
Hamilton was quoted as saying he has “gained a new perspective of life and become closer with his brothers during the trip to Namibia while soaking up the natural splendour”.
Before his departure, Sir Lewis tweeted: “Could not think of a better place to spend this time off. Thank you Namibia, off to the next stop…”
He didn’t say where he was headed, but hints in his tweets suggest he is off to another African country.
Sir Lewis still has a few weeks left of his simmer break. The next Formula 1 race – the Belgian Grand Prix – is scheduled for 28 August.
