Durban – Five people including a four-year-old child have perished in a horror collision involving two vehicles along the N2 in Amanzimtoti.

Emer-G-Med said the tragedy occurred Sunday night.

“At approximately 20h30 on Sunday night, Emer-G-Med paramedics together with Netcare911 responded to the scene of a collision on the N2 south near the M37 in the Amanzimtoti area,” said the emergency responders.

“Five people, among them a four-year-old child, suffered fatal injuries and were declared dead on arrival of paramedics,” said Emer-G-Med.

“Three others were treated and stabilised on the scene for moderate injuries and transported by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further medical care.

“The cause of the collision and the events preceding it are unclear and will form the subject of a South African Police Service investigation.”
