Johannesburg – The 35-year-old man accused of distributing pornographic images with superimposed face pictures of President Cyril Ramaphosa and Police Minister Bheki Cele was hauled before the courts Tuesday.
Scebi Thabiso Nene appeared at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court facing charges of two counts of crimen injuria.
National Prosecuting Authority Gauteng Spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said the accused allegedly sent the pornographic images to a person who has since become a complainant.
The complainant reported the matter to authorities.
After investigations by the HAWKS, Nene was arrested at the weekend on Sunday, (21 May 2023).
On Tuesday, Nene’s matter was transferred to Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court, in KwaZulu-Natal.
Nene was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on 30 May 2023.
