TRAIN SERVICE SUSPENDED: The Gauteng Metrorail train services between Mabopane and Garankuwa have been temporarily suspended after a goods train derailed at Hercules, in Pretoria North

Pretoria – The Gauteng Metrorail train services between Mabopane and Garankuwa have been temporarily suspended after a goods train derailed at Hercules, in Pretoria North.

“Metrorail train commuters are informed that no train services are operational this morning peak between Pretoria-Mabopane and Dewildt-Hercules,” the Gauteng Metrorail Management said.

Gauteng Metrorail said services were suspended Wednesday morning after a goods train, no. 1410, derailed at Hercules early hours.

Gauteng Metrorail Management said: “Commuters traveling on the Mabopane and Dewildt lines are advised to seek alternative transport until further notice as technical teams are clearing the accident scene to allow safe movement of trains. 

“Gauteng Metrorail Management would like to apologise to commuters and employers for the inconvenience this may cause.”
