Ermelo – Police investigators have arrested two suspects and recovered an assortment of guns stolen on Christmas Day from a farm in Sheepmoor, near Ermelo, Mpumalanga.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the break-in and theft of firearms occurred while the farm owner was away on holiday.
Brigadier Mohlala said: “During the arrest, two rifles, a shotgun, and two pistols were confiscated as well as a total of 96 ammunition recovered for various calibers of firearms including ammunition for a shotgun, a rifle, a Glock pistol, and a 9mm pistol.
“The seized firearms will undergo ballistic testing to determine whether they were not used in the commission of crime elsewhere after being reportedly stolen during the housebreaking and theft incident on a Christmas Day.”
The suspects will appear in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
They are facing multiple charges, including burglary, theft, possession of stolen property, and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
